Introduction
A delightful addition has been made to this Georgian house, gracefully positioned on Goldhawk Road in proximity to the contemporary Shepherd's Bush area. It is worth noting that Shepherd's Bush is renowned for being the site of the inaugural Westfield Shopping Mall. With the approval of the local authority of Hammersmith and Fulham, a rear extension on the second floor of this four-storey Georgian building has been granted. This thoughtful extension enhances the living space and functionality of the house, providing an additional bedroom to cater to the needs and desires of its residents.
Proposed Plan

Configuration
Initially, this flat comprised of a single bedroom, with a communal hallway that encompassed both the kitchen and the living room within the same space. A bedroom was situated towards the rear of the flat. The building itself lacked a garden, as the entire plot was occupied by the structure. Access to the ground floor was available from the front, while access to the floors above was possible from the rear. To provide the second-floor flat with an extra bedroom, a rear extension in the form of an annex was added to the roof of the first floor. The original intention was to undertake a comprehensive extension, incorporating two additional bedrooms and a patio. However, due to the council's disapproval of this scheme, the plans were modified, resulting in the inclusion of only one additional bedroom. The entire flat underwent redecoration, featuring new engineering floorboards, a high-quality kitchen, and a sleek bathroom, elevating the overall aesthetic and functionality of the space.

Structure
Construction
The structural design and calculations for the extension were expertly handled by our esteemed partners, The Magnificent Basement Co Ltd. The bracing beams, foundations, timber joists, and stud walls were all meticulously crafted to meet the highest standards of quality. Careful attention was given to ensure the longevity of the extension, with the construction designed to withstand the test of time for at least a century.
Composition
Our team of skilled building technicians undertook the entire construction process, starting from the initial phase of stripping off the old finishes and removing existing materials. We meticulously worked on exposing the structure of the flat, followed by the construction of the extension at the rear. This involved closing the walls and ceilings, and progressing through the stages of the first fix and second fix of the building. Our dedicated efforts extended to working on the finishes, including the installation of a new kitchen, as well as conducting painting and redecoration. The transformation was completed with the addition of brand-new furniture, ensuring a fresh and appealing aesthetic for the revamped space.
